Use this API to create your own service for sending and receiving text messages on the Internet. You can:

  • send SMS worldwide (with notification of receipt);
  • create a service for receiving SMS on your web application, it can save you more money;
  • use this API to bill your customers using our premium numbers (micro-payment for mobile ringtones for example);
  • and many other applications!

Notes when using the SMS API:

  • this service for sending and receiving SMS is not just for Orange mobile customers, it can be used to send and receive text messages to numerous destinations worldwide;
  • notification of receipt or acknowledgment lets you know if the SMS has been delivered to the mobile phone;
  • various SMS features are supported (such as SMS over 160 characters);
  • two types of encryption are available: GSM 7-bit UCS-2, which lets you write SMS in using all alphabets;
  • the start of "session" between your application and a mobile is available. These sessions can be used to avoid using keywords to send an MO SMS to your application for a period of 24 hours if your application has sent a first MT SMS to the mobile or if the user has sent an SMS MO in the first instance;
  • it is possible to personalize the SMS sender (i.e. the From field) which is displayed on the mobile phone receiving the SMS.
On using the Orange SMS API you agree to:
  • obtain the consent (opt-in) of the owners who will receive text messages;
  • not send SMS that can affect how a mobile phone works;
  • not send violent or pornographic messages;
  • abide by the specific rules for the numbers: 31244, 51244 and 71244 which can be found on our website.
